SPK MoSi₂ heating element

 

Silicon molybdenum rod is made of molybdenum disilicide powder. Molybdenum disilicide is an intermediate phase with high silicon content in Mo Si binary alloys. Due to the small difference in atomic radius and similar electronegativity between Mo and Si, molybdenum disilicide belongs to a metal compound with strict chemical composition and a body centered cubic structure. Metal bonds and covalent bonds coexist, thus possessing dual characteristics of metal and ceramic.
