G Type SiC Heating Elements
physical characteristics
G-type silicon carbide rods have a hard and brittle texture, are resistant to rapid cooling and heating, and are not easily deformed at high temperatures. Its thermal conductivity is 20 kcal/m · h · degree, and its linear expansion coefficient is 5 × 10 ^ -6/℃.
chemical stability
After long-term use above 1000 ℃, G-type silicon carbide rods can react with oxygen and water vapor, leading to a gradual increase in SiO2 content in the components and a slow increase in resistance, resulting in aging. Excessive water vapor can promote SiC oxidation and reduce the lifespan of components. Hydrogen can reduce the mechanical strength of components, while nitrogen can prevent SiC oxidation below 1200 ℃, but above 1350 ℃, it will react with SiC and decompose it. Chlorine gas can completely decompose SiC.
